Qualitative Research: Morgan Stanley Resource Managment Tool - PPM

ROLE: VP User Experience

CHALLENGE: Understand usage, workflow, process and usability issues with an internal resource management tool by conducting in-person interviews with tool users.

PROCESS: Interviewed 40 users across eight different divisions via phone and web meetings. Interviewees regularly used the tool for resource planning and management.

DELIVERABLE: Presentation to Sr. Management outlining and documenting significant user frustrations with the tool, the data and process as well as suggestions for necessary improvements.

OUTCOME: Worked with technology department to structure data sources, data input and data sources to align with user needs. Worked with UI designers to design a new interface that addressed major issues with the tool including better data input and reconciliation as well as easier to use and more useful reporting tools.
